Branch Banking Facilites

As you know the Certification Officer imposed several restrictions on the POA in respect of our accounts and those held at local branches in the name of the POA. In an attempt to minimise the disruption to local branches, I have been in discussions with Unity Bank and I am pleased to report the following to you.

All POA branches have the opportunity of a special “FREE” bank account which includes:

  • Credit Interest will normally be paid at the rate of 2% below base rate, gross.
  • Free banking
  • No charge for standard services
  • Free access to internet banking
  • The ability of the bank where “authorised” to provide the POA with account information on an annual basis to assist in the financial returns and comply with the Certification Officers Ruling.

A number of branches already benefit from this service and it is advisable for all branches to transfer local POA accounts to Unity Bank.

Unity will assist in the transfer of accounts and provide services which are tailor made for your convenience. All you need to do is complete the attached proforma, indicating the most convenient bank and they will set up a facility for you to draw or deposit cash. You only need a bank counter for cash as Unity will provide pre-paid envelopes to deposit cheques.

Banking with Unity does not affect your rights to manage your accounts in the normal manner, it will provide good service, excellent benefits and access to a dedicated Trade Union Customer Service Team member, Monday to Friday from 08.30 to 17.00 hours. The team can be contacted on 0845 140 1000.

If you wish to take advantage of this service call 0845 11 777 66, or simply fill in the proforma and post it to the address shown.

For further information visit the website at www.unity.co.uk.

I trust this information is of assistance to you and the branch.

Yours sincerely

Finance Officer
